History of Tennis Paddle
In 1969 in Acapulco, Mexico, Enrique Corcuera decided to slightly modify his squash court and combine it with tennis. At this moment, pedal sport was played by him for the first time, Enrique’s Spanish friend Alfonso of Hohenlohe-Langenburg tried this new invention at Enrique’s home and instantly felt in love. Immediately after, he decided to create the first two Paddle courts in a Tennis club in Marbella (Spain), this was 1974.
In the meantime in 1975, Julio Menditeguy an Argentinian member of Alfonso’s Tennis club in Marbella felt the same passion and decided to import the sport to Argentina. and was quickly introduced to several other countries such as Spain, Argentina and Andorra and is now taught in almost all countries. Pedal sport is attractive, very fun and very active. It can be played at all ages with the necessary concentration.
Pedal playground is a rectangular area with glass walls (tempered glass and laminated glass) that have dimensions of 20 meters in length and 10 meters in width. A 10-meter net with a height of 88 cm divides the ground in half. The back walls are 3 meters high each. The side walls are 3 meters at the beginning of the corners and 2 meters in the middle. The ground is made of artificial grass and in some cases cement and is made in three colors yellow, blue and green.
